Teachers must emphasize the seriousness of the disaster drill. Students may not stop to get drinks or use the restrooms. Students should exit the rooms quickly, quietly, and in single-file lines. Teachers should make sure that they escort students to their assigned area. Students should stand in 2 rows and must wait quietly.
Classroom parent reps are to assist teachers in maintaining order and should
have their procedures with them.
When you hear the disaster alarm sound (short, intermittent rings) please follow these steps:
1.
Direct students to walk out of the classroom in
a single-file line ahead of you.
2.
While students are evacuating, collect your roll
book and be sure all students have left the room. Missing students should be
reported to office personnel as soon as possible.
3. Everyone should leave all their materials in the room and walk quietly in single file from the building.
4.
The room parents should hold the door open until
all have left the building.
5. The teacher is the last one to leave the room. Leave your door unlocked.
6.
Walk quickly, quietly in line with your class to
the designated area (see attached map).
7.
All personnel in the classroom must leave when
the signal is sounded.
8.
Once reassembled in your assigned area on the
dirt field, take attendance and keep students quiet in
line. Immediately report to the administrator saying that all students are
accounted for.
9.
Remain with your class until the all clear (one
long ring) is signaled. Students should be standing quietly in two rows.
10.
Escort your students back to class quickly and
quietly in single file. (Take roll when you get back, so that all students are
accounted for.)
